Trail Day at Mt Seymour on April 5th

As we are fortunate to enjoy the trails of the North Shore, I thought it would be nice to give back a little by joining one of the NSMBA Trail Days (where your build and maintain the Moutain bike trails). I try to do it once in a while.

On Saturday April 5th morning, the NSMBA plans to work on Forever After trail’s maintenance. I will be going and thought maybe some of you might want to join too.
Meeting is at 8.30am on Hyannis Drive

Away for Moab Muni Fest

Many of the folks help make VanUni awesome are away down in the Moab desert riding on some of the slick rock and over the trails.

Sadly this means that we won’t be playing unicycle hockey tonight. We should be on again as normal next week!

Offroad ride at Simon Fraser – Saturday March 8th @ 11am

Spring is peaking just around the corner and we are super keen to start kicking it off with some mountain rides. With that in mind tomorrow morning we will be hitting SFU to ride down Nicole’s Trail.

Meet us at the bus loop at 11am, or send an email to info@vanuni.com to make sure you catch us (include your cell number!).

Cool and breezy with a chance of Unicycle Hockey

Hey Folks,

Last week we had a fun filled 3 on 4 first period with the one and only Jonathan Neill showing us how a slap shot is meant to be done. A couple of us sadly dropped out a tad early due to colds and other obligations, but a mean 2 on 3 game was played by those left.

Tomorrow we will be at it again, playing unicycle hockey underneath the Cambie St. bridge at 6:30pm. We will have an extra unicycle for anyone who wonders by, and as usual we will enthusiastically greet any newcomers.

So come down, say hi, and play!

Who’s in?

February got you down?

If you are feeling a bit under the weather then you should pull up your socks and come play unicycle hockey with us!

We start at 6:30pm underneath the Cambie Bridge, downtown side, tonight (February 20th).

Hope  to see you out there!

Olympics!? Pffft… Let’s play Unicycle Hockey!

Whelp, last weekend was bitterly cold (for Vancouver), and this week looks like it’ll be a wet one. But true to our word we will be out there playing hockey.

Actually when it rains it usually guarantees us a full court, so really you should all be trying to make your way down under the Cambie Bridge this Thursday, February 13th, for some unicycle mayhem.

Last week both Justin and Cyrus braved the cold to hone their unicycle skills. I’m a bit worried about what’ll happen if we put them on the same team…

As always this is a beginner friendly event, I’ll bring along a spare unicycle and sticks (no cart this week), and we are more than happy to give lessons and pointers, so come down and say hello!

Happy riding,
Tynan

Thur Uni Hockey, almost like the real thing

Hey guys, it’s cold enough these evenings to feel like we’re unicycling on ice out there, maybe time to try with a real puck rather than a tennis ball?!

Anyways, game is on tomorrow at 6:30pm as usual. I’ll have the cargo trike of spare unicycles if there are newbies without gear wanting to a stab, and who knows if you’re lucky it may double up as an icecream delivery truck during half time.  Thanks for the Tip Julien.

See you all tomorrow.

Monocyclette – One Wheel Across Patagonia

Hey VanUni!!

On Feb 8th, I’ll be presenting my unicycle trip in South America as part of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival.

For those who didn’t know, from January to July 2013, I was riding from Ushuaia to Santiago de Chile, 4600km on one wheel.

The Cycle Travels Show of the VIMFF will be held at the Rio Theatre on Saturday February 8th, starting at 7.30pm (19+ adults only).

There will be 3 different presenters that evening, all from Vancouver, and with local friends for each of us I suspect the event will be sold out.

The full program of the Festival hasn’t been published yet but the info and tickets can be found here:

http://www.vimff.org/program/

Hope to see you there,

An’So

P.s. For those who can’t make it that day but are interested in a presentation, let me know, I might hold another small committee event really soon.

Unicycle Hockey, Jan 30th at 6:30pm

Alright unicycle fans it is high time we had another game of unicycle hockey.

Last week we had a great two on two match with Marshall and Justin pitting themselves against Pippa and I. The game was close but Pippa’s deadly slap shot scored many a goal, much to the chagrin of the speedster Justin.

This week the uni-cart will NOT be making an appearance, so if you need a spare unicycle please let me know ahead of time! I’ll be bringing along a single extra wheel as that’s the limit of what I can carry.

Happy Riding,
Tynan
